2010 Lexus GX460 Unveiled

Toyota’s luxury division just unveiled the second generation Lexus GX 460, which is said to be more powerful, more efficient and more luxurious than the GX 470 model it replaces. Of course, the safety aspects were not left aside, and the SUV comes equipped with 10 standard airbags and an available Pre-Collision System.

The powerplant is a 4.6-liter V8 engine that manages to deliver 301 horsepower and 329 lb.ft. of torque while returning 13 percent better fuel economy, now standing at 15/20 mpg.

The second generation Lexus GX 460 will be available in two different trim levels, Base and Premium, identifiable by chrome strips surrounding the greenhouse and along the lower door contours. Aside from the standard features (which are many to say the least) buyers can opt for a Convenience Package and a Comfort Plus Package.

The Convenience Package adds power-retracting outside mirrors and Intuitive Parking Assist. The Comfort Plus Package includes semi-aniline leather, heated second-row outer seats, wood-trimmed steering wheel and shift knob, and a three-zone automatic climate control system.

Major standalone options include the next-gen hard disc drive (HDD) nav system, a Mark Levinson Premium Audio system, a Rear Seat Entertainment (RSE) system with two LCD screens, a three-zone automatic climate control system, and the Wide-view Front and Side Monitor, which debuted on the 2009 LX 570.

The new Lexus-branded SUV was officially launched at the Guangzhou Motor Show in China last week and is expected to hit the showrooms sometime in spring 2010. No word on the pricing yet, but we expect it to be around $45,000.
