2010 Chevrolet Equinox, Finalist in North American Truck of the Year

With a comprehensive list of innovative features available for the American-built SUV, the Chevrolet Equinox looks to be a strong contender for the 2010 North American Truck of the Year award.

This Chevy was recently named among the finalist for the aforementioned category which also includes: Acura ZDX, BMW X5 xDrive35d, GMC Terrain, Cadillac SRX, Ford Transit Connect, Land Rover LR4, Lincoln MKT, Subaru Outback and the Volvo XC60.

The jury is comprised of 49 automotive journalists from the United States and Canada and will announce the winners for each category at the North American International Auto Show on January 11. Notable Chevy performances for this category of the awards include the Chevrolet Tahoe Hybrid as a finalist for 2008 North American Truck of the Year, and the Chevrolet Silverado being named the 2007 North American Truck of the Year.

In terms of sales performance the Equinox recorded a 27 percent increase for the calendar year;retail sales for the 2010 model also climbed 16 percent from October to November. Available with either a 2.4L petrol unit or 3.0L V6 engine, the Equinox praises increased fuel efficiency of 32 mpg highway for the first choice or 25 mpg highway with the V6 engine.

Among the Equinox's interesting new features we mention the Rear-view Camera System, which makes it easier to park the car or back out on the driveway; Chevrolet Wi-Fi, which turns the car into a mobile Wi-Fi hotspot; and the Remote Vehicle Starter, which can start your car from 195 feet away and ca also activate the climate control and optional heated seats, while keeping the car locked and immobilized.
