After hosting the 24 Hours of Electricross, a multi world record setting event, Zero Motorcycles released the technical informations and pricing for its high performance electric street motorcycle, the Zero S.

"Our goal from the beginning was to engineer a high performance electric urban street motorcycle that would change the face of the industry. The Zero S is a revolutionary motorcycle that is designed to tackle any city street, hill or obstacle. The innovation behind the Zero S is what separates it from the competition. The Zero S is a high performance motorcycle that also happens to be fully electric and green. The fact that it's electric means not having to get gas and reduced maintenance," Neal Saiki, Zero Motorcycle founder said in a release.

Developed for urban environments, the Zero S integrates weighs only 225 lb. (102 kg) and provides a range of up to 60 miles (100 km) and a top speed of 60 mph (100 km/hour). The motor generates 31 horsepower and 62.5 lb.-ft. of torque.

The Zero S uses a lithium ion array and it is mainly built out of fully recyclable materials. The landfill approved power pack recharges in less than four hours while plugged into a standard 110V or 220V outlet.

The all electric motorcycle costs $9,950 and qualifies for the 10 percent federal plug-in vehicle tax credit, a sales tax deduction, as well as other state based incentives. This brings the cost down by as much as $1,000 and, even if it doesn't bring as much performance as the Mission One sports bike, it is a lot more appealing to the crisis fighting consumer than its rival.

The Zero S will become available in the following thirty days but the manufacturer says it has "already booked substantial pre-orders".
