The UK Classic Car of the Year Award has begun, the list has been released and it’s now the turn of the public to choose their favorite old timer.
The Classic Car of the Year is held in conjunction with Lancaster Insurance and it begun in 2010, each year featuring a diverse list of vehicles, from high-powered, maximum performance supercars of the past to everyday runabouts that had something special.
Featuring popular classics from the 1950s and ‘60s, like Morris Minor, Hillman Imp, Mini and Ford Cortina, this year’s Top 30 also has a 1989 Toyota Corolla GTi, belonging to Paul Seabury from Shropshire, for which you can vote on the official website.
While it’s not considered by to many as a classic vehicle, there are some that sees an old timer in the 1989 Corolla GTi. Derived from the sixth generation Corolla sedan, the GTi was offered both in hatchback and liftback body styles and were equipped with a 4A-GE 1.6-liter DOHC inline-four gasoline engine and ventilated discs all around while its shape and badging kind of reminds us of the classic Peugeot 205 GTi, so it’s understandable why some groups fell in love with it.
