If somebody told you about a 1961 Mercedes-Benz 220SE in running condition, you’d probably expect to see a jewel ready to receive some extra attention in order to shine wherever it is driven. Alas, this is not exactly the case with the classic Benz we have here, as this one has been rudely transformed into a... monster truck.
The contraption is up for grabs on eBay - not that we’d want to get up close and personal with such a thing, but this is how we came across the weird creature.
Underneath the skilfully sculpted body, we find a chassis borrowed from a 1978 Chevy Blazer, so at least you know you can rely on four-wheel drive if you ever end up on a broken road.
Being a monster truck, the Mercedes was gifted with a host of accessories that range from the off-road wheel and tire package and the side steps, to a bull bar with foglights and mud flaps. As for the power, this is provided by a 350 cubic inches V8, so, once again, we are dealing with a covered chapter. By the way, the seller explains that he still has the original six-cylinder Mercedes engine, but will charge extra for it.
As if that weren’t enough, the new form of the car means it has had its fair share of abuse, which all translates into a questionable condition. For instance, the exterior is “ready for paint”, while the cabin has certainly seen better days.
In case you were wondering where this 1961 Mercedes-Benz monster truck can be found, the contraption is lying around in Hardy, Arkansas.

This is a waste on so many levels
The conversion job isn’t the kind that comes easy, so it’s a shame that so much work has been put into such a project. Then there’s the sheer waste of a Fintail, which is the biggest issue here.As if that weren’t enough, the new form of the car means it has had its fair share of abuse, which all translates into a questionable condition.
