It looks like true passion for bike customization can strike even at older ages, and you don;t necessarily have to be a motorcycle addict right from your childhood.
If there's anyone in doubt, we give you Dan Kocka, the creator of 1944, a custom Harley-Davidson with stunning looks and killer sound. While the name of the bike would give people a hint on the creator's idea as he started building it, we must admit that it looks really timeless, like any top-drawer steampunk artifact would. And that is to Dan's praise.

The rusty looks were an accident: just after Dan got this 1996 Sportster form Ebay and started stripping it down, some really humid days followed and added rust to all the exposed metal. Instead of dismay, this lead Dan to a wonderful idea, so he left those parts as they were, and started adding to the dark character of the bike.

A lot of top end components came from Buell, while other parts have been custom-made by workshops and other customizers or by Dan himself. The headlight is an old Ford one, so you can imagine the fun gathering all those parts together and seeing them fit nicely.

Forward controls are modified by Dan and a friend of his and all looks indeed vintage and matches perfectly with the overall look of the bike. 1944 was the year Dan's dad was born, and so the bike is a homage to his old fellow.
