When you take a hypercar such as Porsche's 918 Spyder to a half-mile drag racing event, you expect tons of tuned metal to octane wrestle you. But when a turbocharged Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT8 lines up next to your machine, can you consider it a dangerous competitor?
Well, you should, especially if we're talking about the Jeep in the video below. This Grand Cherokee has more than tripled its factory output and can now easily take on some of the world's quickest production cars.

The Jeep and the Zuffenhausen halo car lined up next to each other, with the aim being the usual trap speed. And since we already ruined the surprise in the title, we might as well explain the recipe that allowed the SRT SUV to leave the gas-electric Porsche (we're talking 887 hp, remember?) trailing in its wake. After all, others might want to recreate the scenario.

There are two main ingredients that allowed the Jeep to stun the audience at this half-mile event, which was held in Georgia. The first has to do with the 6.2-liter HEMI under the hood being gifted with a huge turbo.

To be more precise, we're dealing with an 88mm unit that was transformed into a 103mm turbocharger. And if you ask the owner, the forced induction setup can deliver anywhere between 1,600 and 1,800 horses. That kind of muscle was enough to allow the Mopar brick to steadily work its way to a stunning top velocity of 180 mph (make that 290 km/h if you prefer to use the metric system).

As for the second ingredient, this is the good old duct tape. With the aero downsides of such a car, covering up the panel gaps only seems natural.

Check out the clip below to see this all-wheel-drive behemoth putting its power down like there's no tomorrow.
