No, this isn't a poor Home Alone remake - a 13-year-old is currently in police custody after spending his Saturday night trying to drive away from the police, with his 8-year-old sister riding shotgun.
The hard-to-believe feat took place in Clinton Township, with the Macomb Country Sheriff notifying deputies about a black Nissan Altima that had been reported for weird behavior on the road.
The vehicle was quietly sitting at a red light when a sheriff deputy in the area spotted it on W.B. Metropolitan Parkway, in the proximity of Harper in Clinton Township.
The deputy waited for the light to turn green, then came behind the Nissan and attempted to pull the driver over.
While the Altima initially stopped on the side of the road, the boy decided to floor it instead, fleeing the scene.
Unaware of the occupants' age, the police officer started pursuing the Nissan, but the chase ended quickly. Unsurprisingly, the boy was not exactly familiar with handling a vehicle at high speeds and spun. The car crossed the median, reaching the eastbound Metropolitan Parkway.
The children once again tried to flee the scene, this time on foot. They were caught shortly after and taken to the Sheriff's Office.
You can see the action in the footage below, with the night time easily masking the age of the vehicle's occupants. If you happen to be under the legal driving age and are now having Grand Theft Auto gaming thoughts, please revisit the paragraph above.

The boy is scheduled to show up in court later today
The girl was turned over to her mother, who seems to have separated from their father - police determined the Nissan belonged to the girlfriend of the little ones' father. As for the little getaway driver, a juvenile detention hearing is awaiting him today. You can see the action in the footage below, with the night time easily masking the age of the vehicle's occupants.
