With the cooler weather now upon us, there are plenty of aficionados who hit the drag strip in search of those sweeter quarter-mile numbers. However, there will also be nights when the stunts take place on the street and we've brought along a recent example of this.
As it often happens when talking about street racing, the shenanigan that caught our eye took place at night, involving three land-to-land missiles.
An ex-generation Ford Mustang GT was present, with the Blue Oval toy battling a pair of Corvettes belonging to different generations.
The pony had been gifted with a twin-turbo package and, at least in the tune that was used for the said night of racing, its V8 delivered around 850 horses.
When it comes to the Chevys, the first is a sixth-generation ZR1, with the thing having been pushed all the way to 840 horsepower. As for the second GM machine, we're looking at a C7-gen Z06. Nevertheless, the latter had dropped its factory blower in favor of a F1X procharger. And, according to the one behind the wheel, the 6.2-liter V8 now delivers north of 1,000 horses.
Of course, one can't really trust tuner car output numbers until these are put to the test on the street.
Now, we must mention the noticeable scale footprint gap between the C6 and the C7, with the two being separated by at least 250 lbs.
The trio engaged in savage races, with the slabs of America reaching the kind of speed that can make one dizzy through the screen. From the usual rushed one-two-three start to flame-spitting, the night was anything but calm - the soundtrack of the battle was just as brutal as its visual side.
Nevertheless, we're asking you not to use this hooning as an example and head for the track when the right-pedal urges kick in.
