The 1951 IZH 49 sports an air-cooled, two-stroke, 346cc, single cylinder engine paired to a four-speed manual transmission, and can produce a claimed 11 horsepower at 3200 rpm. This machine came standard with two one-up saddles, the passenger one being fender-mounted, laced wheels, a dual exhaust system, a large headlamp, a telescopic front fork, a rear swingarm suspension and a drum braking system. This was the first motorcycle from the Russian engineers that could be purchased with a sidecar, and is considered to be a replica pf the German DKW NZ 350.
