The heart of the new Husaberg generation is the new SOHC one-cylinder engine with a displacement of 448.6 or 565 cc. In addition to top performance, the developers' goal was a modern, compact design and a high degree of durability, as well as to position the crankshaft near the overall centre of gravity, thus facilitating the handling by means of the engine design.

Based on the 70° engine layout the FE 390 matches any 250 4-stroke in terms of easy handling, but with its way more bottom end power and torque and its smooth power delivery it is one step ahead in terms of overall rideability. These characteristics make the FE 390 the ideal Freeride Enduro, also for less experienced riders. If you want to go Extreme Enduro riding or do Endurocross races, you need traction, easy handling and a bike that assists you in tackling the toughest of obstacles, the FE 390 is just what you need.

The Husaberg FE 570 is in terms of engine capacity the biggest bike on the market. It has masses of torque right from the very bottom and taken up through the revs the power builds like a storm. Nevertheless it never feels like a big-bore monster but delivers any level of power in a very manageable way. The rideability and handling are comparable to much smaller bikes in terms of engine capacity. The perfect enduro bike for fast and flowing offroad tracks, gravel roads and serious rally racing. The new 22mm offset of the CNC machined triple clamps gives the bike the additional stability for high speed riding.

Husaberg offers three electric-start models-the FE400E, FE501E and FE600E-essentially identical save for displacement. On the FE 600E Supermoto, the scales did their typical upward swing, all the way to 274 pounds without fuel, damn near a 30-pound jump from the kick-only model.

The Berg's motor has come a long way, too. The 600E uses the same piston as the 501, but adds 13mm of stroke to bump both displacement and torque. The lofty, 11.2:1 compression ratio is happy with good 92-octane fuel.

This was the first Husaberg bike, presented in 1988 to a group of investors. The machine featured a plastic bottle as tank and a few other funky makeshift solutions.
