HONDA MTX 125R (1983-1984) Specs, Performance & Photos

The Honda MTX 125R, internally known as the JD01, was an enduro motorcycle manufactured by Honda from 1983 to 1986. The bike was intended for the European market, and the production line was located in Spain, Belgium, and Sweden.

The bike's visual department was characterized by features such as a high-mounted front fender, a small rectangular headlight integrated into a small cowl with a tiny wind deflector, a one-piece dual seat, a single exhaust system with a silencer mounted under the seat, and wire-spoke wheels.

For suspension, the motorcycle had an air-assisted adjustable telescopic fork on the front with 230 mm of travel and a non-adjustable Pro-Link shock absorber on the rear. As for the braking power, both front and rear wheels were fitted with drum braking units, offering optimum stopping power.

The 1983 Honda MTX 125R had installed a 124cc two-stroke single-cylinder liquid-cooled engine underneath the fuel tank. It was managed by a 24 mm Keihin carburetor and delivered 18 hp with a peak at 8,700 rpm and 16 Nm (12 lb-ft) torque at 7,200 rpm.

The motorcycle was set in motion by a six-speed manual transmission that redirected the power generated by the engine to the rear end via a final chain drive, pushing the motorcycle to a maximum speed of 121 kph (75 mph).
