In 2002, the Italian motorcycle manufacturer launched the Ducati ST4, a sport touring machine in its fourth consecutive year of production that didn't feature any modifications whatsoever compared to the previous models.

The bike was part of the ST series that comprised five motorcycles with similar appearances but different engines. The ST2, ST3, ST3S, ST4, and ST4S were intended to compete with other sport-touring motorcycles like the Honda VFR.

The Ducati ST4 debuted in 1999 and continued production through 2005. It was powered by a retuned engine version used by the Ducati 916 model. The bike was dressed in a full fairing, a single-piece dual seat with a relaxed riding position, a center stand, and optional matching luggage.

The 2002 Ducati ST4 was fitted with standard features, such as a full fairing, a windscreen, a single headlight, a one-piece dual seat, a dual exhaust system with a muffler on each side, and three-spoke lightweight alloy wheels.

At its core, the ST4 was equipped with a 916cc four-stroke liquid-cooled V-twin engine with a fuel injection system feeding the pistons, delivering an output power of 105 hp with a peak at 9,000 rpm and 89 Nm (66 lb-ft) torque at 7,500 rpm.

In the braking department, the bike packed two 320 mm discs with four-piston calipers on the front wheel and a 245 mm disc with a dual-piston caliper on the rear wheel, providing optimal stopping power.
