DUCATI ST2 (1997-1998) Specs, Performance & Photos

The Ducati ST series was a range of sport-touring motorcycles made by Ducati from 1997 through 2007. The ST series comprised several models with different engines and designations, like the ST2, ST3, ST3S, ST4, and ST4S.

The bikes were intended to compete against other sport-touring machines like the Honda VFR, so the ST model was fitted with a full fairing and a large two-up seat with a relaxed riding position for both rider and passenger. In addition, the bike was equipped with a center stand and was available with an optional matching luggage system.

All the models in the ST series shared the same frame, cycle parts, and bodywork, but each model had a different liquid-cooled Desmodromic V-twin engine. The numbers after the ST suffix represented the number of valves per cylinder.

In the aesthetic departments, the bike packed standard features, such as a full fairing with a single headlight unit, integrated turn signals, and a windscreen, a one-piece dual seat with a passenger grab handle, a dual exhaust system with a muffler on each side, and three-spoke lightweight aluminum wheels.

As for performance, the 1997 Ducati ST2 had its muscles from a 944cc four-stroke V-twin liquid-cooled engine managed by an electronic fuel injection system, boasting 83 hp with a peak force at 8,500 rpm and 84 Nm (62 lb-ft) torque at 6,500 rpm.
