DUCATI 1198S (2008-2009) Specs, Performance & Photos

The Ducati 1198 was a sports bike made by the Italian motorcycle manufacturer Ducati from 2009 to 2011.

For the 2011 model year, Ducati made available two versions, such as the 1198SP, which replaced the 1198S, and 1198, which shared design elements with its predecessor but featured more power and torque, redesigned wheels, lighter headlights, traction control, and a few minor paint changes.

In 2009, Ducati launched the 1198S model, which incorporated more World Superbike technology than ever before by taking the 1198 engine and adding top-of-the-range suspension, lightweight chassis components, and a racing-style traction control system designed for road use.

As for suspension, the bike packed a 43 mm Ohlins TiN fully-adjustable upside-down fork on the front and a fully-adjustable progressive linkage monoshock, and an aluminum single-sided swingarm on the rear, while both front and rear Ohlins package was topped by an adjustable steering damper that enhanced control.

For braking performance, the bike featured two 330 mm semi-floating discs with radially-mounted Brembo four-piston monobloc calipers on the front wheel and a 245 mm dis squeezed by a two-piston caliper on the rear wheel.

In the performance department, the 2009 Ducati 1198S was brought to life by a 1198cc four-stroke L-Twin cylinder liquid-cooled engine that delivered an output power of 170 hp with maximum strength at 9,750 rpm and 131 Nm (97 lb-ft) of torque available at 8,000 rpm.
