DUCATI 1198 (2010-2011) Specs, Performance & Photos

The Ducati 1198 was a sports bike manufactured by Ducati from 2009 to 2011. It shared design components with its 1098 predecessor but came in a more powerful package, delivering more power and torque.

In addition, it had redesigned wheels, lighter headlights, traction control, lighter fairings on the S version, and several paint changes. Another feature borrowed from the 998 models was the distinctive single-sided swingarm.

In the appearance department, the bike delivered an aggressive stance, with its eye-shaped twin headlights, full fairing with a small windscreen, a bulbous fuel tank, a single-sided swingarm, an under-seat-mounted exhaust system, and ten-spoke lightweight wheels.

The 2010 Ducati 1198 was powered by a 1198cc four-stroke liquid-cooled V-twin engine with an Electronic Fuel Injection (EFI) system in charge, delivering an output power of 170 hp with a maximum peak force at 9,750 rpm and 132 Nm (97 lb-ft) torque at 8,000 rpm.

With a six-speed manual transmission, a hydraulically-controlled dry multi-plate clutch, a final chain drive, and a 171 kg (377 lbs) dry weight, the bike reached 280 kph (174 mph).

The bike was built on a tubular steel Trellis frame with a 43 mm fully adjustable upside-down Showa fork on the front and a fully adjustable Showa shock absorber on the rear, offering excellent suspension performance and handling.

As for stopping power, the wheels were fitted with two 330 mm discs and four-piston calipers on the front and a 245 mm disc with a dual-piston caliper on the rear, delivering robust and reliable braking performance.
