Dnepr is an Ukrainian motorcycle producer formerly known as KMZ. In 1967 the company rebranded using the more poetic name of the river that is crossing near Kiev, Dnieper. The Dnepr MW 750 is a sidecar naked bike produced by the Ukrainian company Dnepr during 1964 – 1973 for military applications.
The engine of the motorcycle is a 746 cc two-cylinder, four stroke, boxer type, developing 26 hp (19 kW) at 4900 RPM with a max torque of 30 lb-ft (41 Nm) at 3800 RPM. The power is delivered via a drive shaft, not by a traditional chain (because it requires less maintenance) and also features a two-wheel drive system (some of them modified with three-wheel drive), which made the bike handle extraordinarily well in off-road conditions.
The gearbox has 4+1 speeds, one gear being reverse so it was easier to maneuver the bike in tight spaces and when getting stuck in off-road. The brakes fitted on this motorcycle are drum brakes in the front and rear, as the technology of disc brakes at that time was not as developed, and the expanding brakes were performing better in off-road conditions, as they are isolated from all the mud and dust.
