BMW K1300S (2014-2015) Specs, Performance & Photos

In 2014, the German motorcycle manufacturer launched the BMW K1300S, a powerful yet agile machine that delivered impressive power as well as improved safety and comfort.

The bike came with standard features, such as a high-end EVO braking system, a Duolever front and Paralever rear suspension system, BMW Motorrad ABS, and adjustable clutch and hand brake levers. In addition, the bike was available with optional Electronic Suspension Adjustment (ESA II) that improved agility.

The motorcycle debuted in 2008 as a sports machine that replaced the K1200S, which had been in production since 2004. Compared to the K1200S, the K1300S featured a larger engine with more power on tap, redesigned fairings, and a new exhaust system.

The 2014 package comprised standard features, including a full fairing with a small windscreen for more wind protection, a one-piece dual seat with pillion grab rails, a single-sided swingarm, and Y-shaped 10-spoke lightweight aluminum wheels.

As for performance, the 2014 BMW K1300S had hidden from plain sight a 1,293cc four-stroke liquid-cooled four-cylinder engine with a fuel injection system in charge, delivering 175 hp at 9,250 rpm and 140 Nm (103 lb-ft) torque at 8,250 rpm.

The bike's engine worked in tandem with a six-speed manual gearbox with a wet multi-plate clutch and a final shaft drive, pushing the motorcycle to a top speed of 277 kph (172 mph).
