BMW K1300R Carbon (2012-2013) Specs, Performance & Photos

The BMW K1300R debuted in 2008 as a naked sports machine, replacing the BMW K1200R, which was BMW's flagship urban motorcycle and was manufactured until 2015. Also, the bike was considered a muscle bike due to its high power and fast acceleration.

Over its production period, the bike was never offered for sale in the United States, although it was sold in the smaller Canadian market. Also, on December 20, 2013, a modified BMW K1300R was used in the Bollywood film Dhoom 3, ridden by Aamir Khan.

In 2012, the German motorcycle maker released the BMW K1300R Carbon, a motorcycle that brought good news for fans of naked motorcycles. Unlike the base model, the bike came with a special livery, Metallic Ostra Grey and Sapphire Black with Sun Yellow lettering, plus a carbon fiber engine spoiler.

It was also available with a host of high-end technologies, such as Motorrad Anti-Lock Braking System (ABS), Tire Pressure Control (TPM), Electronic Suspension Adjustment (ESA II), an on-board computer, and heated grips for a more comfortable riding experience.

In the power department, the 2012 BMW K1300R Carbon packed the same 1,293cc four-stroke four-cylinder liquid-cooled engine as the base model, with an electronically-controlled fuel injection system in charge, boasting 175 hp at 9,250 rpm and 140 Nm (103 lb-ft) torque at 8,250 rpm.
