BMW K1300GT (2011-2012) Specs, Performance & Photos

In 2011, the German motorcycle manufacturer launched the BMW K1300GT, a more sport-touring-oriented motorcycle that debuted in 2009, replacing the BMW K1200GT. Compared to the K1200GT, the 1300GT model packed a larger engine, an improved Electronic Suspension Adjustment (ESA II) system, a single indicator switch, and crash bars mounted underneath its fairing.

The 2011 BMW K1300GT was fitted with modern technology, such as ABS, a Duolever front and Paralever rear suspension system, Automatic Stability Control (AST), and Electronic Suspension Adjustment (EAS II) system that increased performance, safety, and comfort.

The bike was built on an aluminum bridge-type frame dressed in a full fairing with an adjustable windscreen, a pulled-back handlebar, a two-piece dual seat with passenger grab rails, a top case with an integrated passenger backrest, side-mounted panniers for extra storage, and a single-sided swingarm.

Underneath its clothes, the 2011 BMW K1300GT had hidden from plain sight a 1,293cc four-stroke four-cylinder liquid-cooled engine managed by a fuel injection system, delivering an output power of 160 hp at 9,000 rpm and 136 Nm (100 lb-ft) torque at 8,000 rpm.

As for braking performance, the motorcycle had its wheels fitted with two 320 mm discs with four-piston calipers on the front and a 295 mm disc with a dual-piston floating caliper on the rear, providing excellent stopping power.
