The news surrounding the imminent demise of the Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG after not even four complete years of productions have really started to heat up in the last couple of weeks.
The people in charge of the Mercedes-AMG Facebook page are most likely well aware of the rumors and today decided to add some kindling to the fire by offering a teaser image of a mysterious new AMG model on their official page.

The only text accompanying the image is this: “Want to take a glimpse into the future? Over the next few days we will uncover a new member of the AMG family, bit by bit. This first picture shows a front splitter made of visible carbon. Any idea what is coming?”

Our eagle with glaucoma eyes tell us that front splitter and lower fascia most definitely come from a visually-modified SLS AMG, which in theory would make our previous statements obsolete.

Is this really a farewell “Final Edition” to the Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG? Call us hardheaded, or the boy who cried wolf, but it still doesn't make any sense to us, mostly because of two major peculiarities:

- The SLS AMG's production started in 2010 in Sindelfingen - not in Affalterbach, as Autocar's “insider” article about the model's end of production erroneously states, so it's way too early for its production to come to a halt.

- The official text accompanying the teaser image above states that it's “a new member of the AMG family”. Why would a Final Edition be called a new member?

We're now waiting for the rest of the teasers and maybe a major information leak that doesn't arrive via the hilariously deceiving British car magazines.
