With only one engine option, the Infiniti G-Series wasn't really a match for the whole pack of Germans from Audi, BMW and Mercedes-Benz. But in terms of refinement, the 2013 G37 was a true contender in its price range and power output.

Part of the fourth generation of the Infiniti G-Series, the G-Sedan was a premium car in the compact sedan market. It was known for its interior refinement and high-quality hand-made stitches on the leather upholstery.

From the outside, there were not many improvements over the 2009 facelift, but it offered standard 17” alloy wheels instead of 16”. The grille received a minor restyling, offering a crisp form and a high-quality look. The fog lights were offered as standard and installed in the lower side of the bumper. For the Sport 6MT version, there was a special Sport package, featuring distinctive front fascia, headlights and sport side sills. The HID headlight with bi-xenon lighting was standard. The rear lights were LED-type.

Inside, the front seats were heated as standard. The audio system has received a minor upgrade. An option for a Bose premium sound system was available. For the instrument cluster, a new LCD display was installed.

The G-Sedan was offered with only one engine option, but available with a rear or all-wheel-drive, six-speed manual or 7-speed automatic, depending on the version and trim level.

Luxurious was definitely the word to describe the powerful sedan and Infiniti made it even more appealing for 2011.

The new G25 featured a 218 hp V6 engine and offered a slightly better fuel consumption than the previous models.

For its value, the G25 offered great performance, spaciousness, luxury and the latest technology features.

The G25 was available with the base version and the G25 Journey, the latter could have been equipped with an all-wheel-drive system, namely the G25x.

The base G25 came with standard 17-inch alloys, bi-xenon headlights, keyless entry, cruise control, automatic climate control, fog lamps, power driver seat and passenger seat, leather upholstery and an auxiliary audio jack.

The Journey trim level came with a different engine and no other upgrades.

The 2011 G25 was powered by a 2.5-liter powerplant and even though it was fewer standard features and a less powerful engine, the starting price was affordable.

The engine was mated with a 7-speed automatic transmission, and no manual transmission was available.

Safety wise, the sedan came with standard antilock brakes, stability and traction controls as well as front and side curtain airbags.

A rearview camera was also available, however, only for the upper trims, excluding the base level.

The interior was excellently built and high quality materials. The seats were very comfortable and customer could opt for sport-styled seats.

Infiniti introduced the fourth generation of its G series in 2006 for the Japanese market powered by the old 3.5-liter powerplant. But that didn't last long.

At the Geneva Motor Show in March 2009, the Japanese automaker unveiled the G37 Sedan as a contender for premium sports sedans in the compact segment. Its fresh engine and unusual look took European customers by surprise. Unfortunately, the financial crisis struck and ruined Infiniti's dream of building a bridgehead in Europe for it. It was easier in the U.S., where the brand was already known. But still had a hard time fighting the likes of Cadillac, BMW, Mercedes-Benz, and other direct competitors.

The design was one of its strongest selling points. Its boomerang-style headlights flanked the wide chromed grille. On the lower side of the bumper, the apron was split in three, with a center lower air intake and two scoops on the sides that channeled air onto the front brakes. The profile featured an ascending beltline over the side doors that ended onto a short, tall deck. The taillights' contour was similar to the one from the headlights. Finally, underneath the rear bumper, the automaker installed two pipes on the outer sides to emphasize the car's sporty spirit.

Inside, it was not just luxurious but also sporty. Its front bolstered seats, and the tall center console divided the front area in two. On top of the center stack was the infotainment system with a few buttons below it. It provided Bluetooth connectivity and navigation. There was room for two adults in the back, although the headroom was not exactly generous.

With its powerful powerplant, the G37 proved to be a tough competitor for other sports sedans. In addition, it was available with either a six-speed manual or a seven-speed automatic.
