The workers in Pleasanton, California, have the privilege to test out the new DASH carsharing program recently started by City CarShare in cooperation with Toyota, which provided the vehicles in discuss.
The three-year pilot program will use 30 Scion iQ EV models (out of 100 in the whole world) to offer short distance transportation options for both employer’s business needs and for their carpool, vanpool and public transportation commuters.

Specially designed for the job, the iQ EVs will be located in different electric charging locations throughout and near Hacienda. Employees who join the program will be able to use them by the hour (for a small fee) to attend local meetings or run errands.

Each Scion iQ EV is powered by a high-output lithium-ion battery feeding an electric motor, which in ideal stop-and-go traffic will provide a range of 40 miles, while a full recharge will take about three hours.

The Dash project’s targets are to reduce harmful tailpipe emissions and reduce road congestion by encouraging the carpooling solution.
