Wiesmann to Build a Car, Live in Frankfurt

German manufacturer Wiesmann added a bit of a twist to their announced presence at the 2009 Frankfurt Auto Show. After last week they confirmed the unveiling of the Roadster MF5 at the event, Wiesmann today said visitors to their stand will get to see, first hand, how Wiesmann assembles its cars. “On this way we will be able to show our manufacturing skills and our productive efficiency to the exhibition-visitors, the customers, and the media-exponents. Like in Duelmen everyone can take a look at our work in Frankfurt” Friedhelm Wiesmann, company's business manager said in a release. The car chosen to be the subject of the live assembly is a GT MF4, powered by a 4.8l, 367 horsepower engine. Only two Wiesmann employees will work on the car, in an endevor which will be broadcasted live for fans around the world through a digital webcam. As for the MF5 roadster we mentioned earlier, it will be the centerpiece of Wiesmann's presence in Frankfurt. The 55 unit limited edition will be powered by a BMW V10 engine, delivering 507 hp and 520 Nm of torque. The powerplant allows the Roadster to reach 100 km/h in 3.9 seconds, can make it go all the way to 310 km/h (193 mph) and will represent a big part of the 189,500 euros price tag set for the MF5 by the manufacturer. autoevolution will be attending the 2009 Frankfurt Auto Show, so stay tuned for some real up close and personal shots of these vehicles, as well as for first-hand details of the motorized contraptions.
