There’s something for everybody in the tuning world - from light touches like adding new wheels to completely changing everything about a car. German tuners are usually somewhere in the middle, providing extensive mods that leave the soul of the car unharmed but forever changed.

Koblenz-based Wetterauer Engineering has been tweaking MINI’s Countryman model in an ongoing project. Despite looking like a brown piece of chocolate, the biggest of the British carmaker’s vehicles is now even more impressive than ever.

We’ll start with the outside of the Countryman Cooper S, where we immediately spot that striking foil wrap in a matt brown color for most of the body. However, a different color and texture were chosen for the roof, side skirts, front and rear aprons and mirrors, where carbon fiber was chosen for its sporty look. The factory wheels were swapped for a matching set of 18-inch wheels from ATS shod in 225/45 R18 tires.

The inside is even more extensively made over, gaining four lightweight racing bucket seats featuring a carbon fiber shell and which are wrapped in black leather with light brown piping. A brand new iPad was fitted, taking care of all the entertainment needs.

The most important change is under the bonnet, where a new carbon air box, a custom exhaust system and an ECU tune have increased the 1.6-liter turbo engines output from 184 hp to a mighty 235 hp. To keep the Countryman straight and true on the track, Wetterauer also fitted the big MINI with an H&R sports suspension.
