Volkswagen Scirocco R Photos Released
The R is powered by the revised version of the engine found on the Volkswagen Golf 5 GTI. The 2.0l TSI engine is capable of developing 265 horsepower and 350 Nm of torque, according to carscoop.blogspot.com.
The powerplant is linked to either a six-speed manual transmission or a twin-clutch DSG semi-automatic transmission, offered as an option. On the down side, the Scirocco is not equipeed with an all-wheel drive, the front-wheel drive allowing for the car's weight to be reduced to 1,330 kg. And if you're still wondering why not a newer engine for the R, well, the reason is very simple: the 2.0l revised one is cheaper.
Inside, the R retains the sporty appearance found on the outside. The front seats, the three-spoke steering wheel and aluminum enhanced trim all make the new Scirocco proudly wear the R badge.
Whereas the pictures are here now, the car will become available on the market sometimes in fall this year. It will be available only for the European customers, as Volkswagen does not intend, at least for now, to market it in the US.
