Australian motorcycle racer Troy Bayliss suffered a broken leg this weekend, while taking part in an AMA Pro Flat Track event in Sacramento, California. This was Bayliss' second participation in an AMA-sanctioned event, but it looks like it wasn't the luckiest one for him.
Troy Bayliss crashed during the semi-final race of the evening, and his foot got caught in the air fence at the side of the track. According to his own account, it was "pointing the wrong way." After getting an X-ray, Bayliss flew back to Australia where he would undergo surgery.

X-ray fun with Facebook

According to photos posted by Bayliss on Facebook, his leg shows at least two fractures that need mending. A Facebook user uploaded his own X-ray showing a very similar injury that had been mended with the help of a plate and no less than ten screws to keep the bone pieces together.

We are waiting for news from Troy, and he'll most likely upload some new photos on social media websites, as it looks like he was in a pretty good mindset despite his mishap.

Ducati Scrambler to help revive the AMA Pro Flat track series

Troy Bayliss rode a Ducati Scrambler in the flat track event, with the Lloyd Brothers livery. No news surfaced as to what caused the crash. AMA managed to include flat track racing in this year's X Games event in Austin, TX and enlisted the help of famous riders like Bayliss to help
grow the popularity of the sport.

Bayliss was landing in the Land Down under some 12 hours ago and was heading for the hospital, so we guess it won't be long until we hear from him again.
