Toyota GT 86 Convertible Rendering Could Become Reality
From the get-go, the project centered around the idea of reducing weight and lowering the center of gravity.A convertible would undoubtedly add some extra mass to the two-door, making the car less sporty.
But the Toyoya GT 86 and Subaru BRZ were designed from the start to be converted into drop-tops. That means only minimal bracing will be needed to stiffen the car back up. Both versions of the car and most like the Scion as well will be produced from a single Fuji Heavy Industries factory in the middle of Japan.
Power should still come from a responsive 2.0-liter flat-4 engine, mated to either a 6-speed manual or 6-speed automatic transmission equipped with paddle shifters.
