We’re not sure how many of you are aware of this, but Russians are crazy about drag racing. Sure, they haven’t entered a... hot war with the NHRA machines just yet, but at least when it comes to the street machine level, the Russian drag race scene is mighty colourful. We’ve talked about their Unlimited 500 sprint events on numerous occasions and now we’re here to show you the latest installment of the franchise.
The freshest set of races took place in Minsk, enjoying a rich audience, as you can see in the clip below. The event looked more like a GT-R showdown than anything else, so, naturally, an example of Gozilla was the one to take the win.

We are talking about a GT-R that was pushed to 1,600 horsepower here, with the supercar pulling low 9s runs. In keeping with the Nordern tradition, the GT-R was named "Thor". Since this is one of the most modern supercar around, perhaps they should've used the youngster version of the name, "Tor".

The participants pulled all the usual stunts, such as spraying NOS on the intercooler to lower that all-important IAT2 (post-charge intake temperature).

We know the aforementioned numbers may not sound all that impressive since we’re talking about such specialised events, but don’t worry, there are considerably more powerful cars in the Unlimited 500 game.

For instance, last year we saw a 2,005 hp Lamborghini Gallardo. Of course, we are talking about wheel horsepower and, of course the thing caught fire.

Heck, if we are to talk 9-second cars, Unlimited 500 has brought us the fastest Jeep Grand Cherokee in Europe, an 1,300 hp SUV that pulled a 9.61-second run. In case you are wondering, this is also the 4th fastest Grand Cherokee SRT8 in Europe.
