While BMW is busily testing the new M4 coupe and Mercedes is working on their new C63 AMG, the Americans are also busily preparing their performance revolution.
The ATS compact premium sedan was heralded as Cadillac's rival to the BMW 3 Series, lighter thanks to a brand new Alpha aluminum platform and tested to perfection at the Nurburgring. GM also recently revealed a new twin-turbo V6 engine going into the new CTS, which they say is better than what BMW has two offer. Put the two together and you have the next Cadillac ATS-V Coupe.

Our spy photographers have nabbed the first images of this car and as you can see, long before it will make its official debut.

The prototype has large air intakes at the front and a new type of grille, which sort of reminds us of the BMW 4 Series crossed with a Lincoln. The ATS-V appears to have wider fenders, which fit a wider wheel-and-tire configuration for the track.

A big brake kid and an imposing quad exhaust system complete the look of Cadillac's first-ever performance compact car. Let's just hope some of the camo comes off and we can have a better look at that weird grille.
