Volkswagen has already released the Amarok pick-up, but the German brand is making the final touches to the Single Cab version which was recently caught during a testing session in Germany. Expected to be released in the first quarter of the next year, the Amarok Single Cab seems to feature a much more spacious interior as compared to the other models in its class, mostly thanks to the configuration of the B-pillar that has been lengthened for extra room behind the seats.
The engine lineup will pretty much be the same as on the regular version, but a new 2.0-liter petrol unit is likely to join the range as well. Sources are indicating that such a setup could be turbocharged and also compatible to run on Ethanol, a feature especially implemented for the Brazilian market. An automatic transmission is also possible, besides the 6-speed manual one available on the standard version.
The Amarok is offered with two 2.0-litre fuel-efficient, Euro5 compliant, common rail TDI engines producing 163 PS, with torque of 400 Nm at a low 1,500 rpm, or 122 PS with maximum torque of 340 Nm from 2,000 rpm.
Prices on the German market for the standard Amarok version begin at EUR26,203 for the two wheel drive version, equipped with the 122 hp 2.0 TDI diesel engine featuring the base equipment level. The model powered by the more powerful engine of the range, the bi-turbo 2.0 TDI diesel developing 163 hp, starts at EUR28,900 for the rear wheel drive version, and reaches EUR37,169 for the Highline (top equipment level) all wheel drive model.
