Over the 100 year history of BMW, some cars had the chance to write history. One of them was the 2002 Turbo, a car that 40 years ago previewed the future without anyone noticing.
The 2002 was brought to life because two top management heads were not satisfied with their own BMWs. Back then, the 1500 and 1600 were ruling the roads of Germany but sometimes they felt underpowered.

That's when a 2-liter engine was deemed necessary. Initially the 2002 was launched with around 120 HP but then people were still unsatisfied with the results so the Turbo version showed up in 1973.

This one had a KKK turbocharger, 170 HP and 240 Nm of torque. Needless to say that for those times it was nothing short of amazing. Unfortunately, the timing was all wrong as Europe soon hit an oil crisis and few people could afford to fuel up this car.

Over the years some fanatics kept the car though and even improved it a bit, making it their own. One such person is Eric Heffernan. He had faith in the little Bimmer and made it completely unique.

He painted the car in Porsche's own Signal Green paint job, changed the interior, adding Recaro seats with the 'turbo' logo sewed in in the same color as the exterior, added a Momo steering wheel, a set of rebuilt and refinished 15" BBS RSs and then went for more performance.

The car received an M42 engine paired with a Super60 turbocharger that together deliver 200 HP, with only half a bar of manifold pressure. The transmission is a manual 5-speed gearbox and the rear end has a 3.91:1 limited slip differential.

Of course, that's not everything that went into this car but we didn't want to spoil the pleasure of reading all about it as written by Stance Works. What we can say is that we're proud to have such people in the BMW community.
