Put Pen to Paper and Learn How to Draw a Porsche Macan

With sales expected to go through the roof, the Macan SUV stands a good chance of being the most common Porsche ever made. But just because it’s common doesn’t mean it can’t be special as well.
If you know somebody who ordered one of these or just want to brush up on your artsy skills, the next video will surely help you draw the perfect Porsche Macan. It’s quite a distinctive SUV, with soft curves and modern lines. Its trademark features include a bonnet that you can’t see and a new grille design. Getting that and the headlights straight are going to be key to a successful sketch.

The outline of the grille is a bit like the iPhone, straight lines giving way to rounded edges. Like razorblades, the bars of the grille cut across for a sharper look. Obviously, muscularity is key to any SUV design, but there’s also a hint of 911 in the curvature of the “humps” on top of the arches.

If all else fails and you don’t have an eye for car proportions, there’s no shame in turning your screen luminosity to high placing the paper over it to get the outlines right!

The really cool thing about this next video, which is the only one of its kind currently on Youtube, is that the sketch has been done suing a BIC ballpoint pen. Only the most confident of artists should try that though. Remember, this is time-lapse footage, so the 15 minutes of sketching is probably one or two hours.

Just to remind you guys, the Macan is Stuttgart’s latest SUV, built on the platform of the Audi Q5. It was launched last year at the Los Angeles Auto Show, entered production earlier this year and is available with a range of turbocharged V6 engines.
