Porsche 911 Speedster Sold Out

All of the 356 Porsche Speedsters planned for production already have owners, despite the fact that the model has just being launched at the 2010 Paris Show. Even with the high price of EUR201,682 ($263,667), all the cars have been sold ahead of the original planned dealership launch in December this year. The Speedster's bold color and flowing lines are partially to thank for the record sales figures, which are amazing considering Porsche needed several months to shift all of its 500 GT2 RS lightened sports cars.

The 911 Speedster was sold only as a rear-wheeled drive car, powered by a naturally aspirated 3.8-liter engine that delivers 408 hp at 7300 rpm and 420 Nm of torque between 4,200 rpm and 5,600 rpm. Top speed for this stylish cabrio is rated at 305 km/h, while the 0 to 100 km/h (0 to 62 mph) sprint is dealt in 4.4 seconds.

The look of the car has been changed to a more retro one by lowering the windshield by 60 mm (compared to the normal 911 cabrio) and the introduction of a manual soft top with glass rear window. The interior uses a black leather finish and comes with exclusive details, such as decorative designs with checkerboard patterns for the seat center section. Other changes include 19 inch Sport Classic rims, a Sport steering wheel design, dual-clutch gearbox (PDK), electronic suspension PASM, limited slip differential, new body kit and black headlight frames. The PCCB carbon-ceramic brakes installed on the car fade five times less than the ones made of steel and help the car stop better.

Aluminum doors and bonnet keep the weight equal to that of the Carrera S coupe, despite Porsche having to use structural reinforcements to strengthen the chassis.
