Like we said, Porsche is on a special edition frenzy this year. The German automaker is now introducing a new... special edition for the 911 Cabrio. Dubbed the 911 Speedster, it pays homage to the 356 Speedster, the first model to use this name and will have a production limited to 356 units. The vehicle will make its debut at the upcoming Paris Auto Show. Compared to its not-so-special siblings, the car rides 60 mm closer to the road, is 44 wider at the rear, has a more raked windscreen, comes with a flat contour of the sporty-look manual hood and with a double-bubble hardcover for the soft top. The vehicle uses special front and rear aprons, as well as new side skirts. The Speedster uses the same engine as the recently-introduced 911 GTS. This means that at the rear of the car we can find a 3.8 liter flat six delivering 408 hp (23 hp more than the Carrera S). The unit is mated to a seven-speed PDK double clutch gearbox and sends the power to the rear wheels with the help of a standard differential lock. The list of standard tech goodies also includes Porsche Active Suspension Management (PASM) and Porsche Ceramic Composite Brake (PCCB). The car also comes with an enhanced rollover protection system. The interior uses a black leather finish and comes with exclusive details, such as decorative designs with checkerboard patterns for the seat center section, as well as special leather side bolsters. The car is dressed in an exclusive color called “Pure Blue”and features contrasting elements such as tinted front lights, black headlight rings, black windscreen contour and others. Customers can also order it in Carrera White. As expected, all this exclusivity and top features come with a price: the 911 Speedster can be yours starting from EUR201,682 ($263,667). The car will be launched in December. autoevolution will be attending the 2010 Paris Auto Show, so stay tuned for some real up close and personal shots of the vehicles, as well as for first-hand details of the motorized contraptions presented at the event.
