It seems that General Motors is determined to become a soldier in the German Power War, and follow the general trend for extra-powerful top-end models in Europe, with the carmaker considering launching a meaner version of the Opel Insignia OPC / Vauxhall Insignia VXR.
The current model uses a turbocharged 2.8-liter V6 and this could be pushed to as far as 400 hp for the facelifted incarnation of the model. The Insignia range is expected to receive a makeover in one year from now and this should mark the debut of the new, crazy Insignia.

If the project receives the green light, the vehicle will also have its suspension and braking system adapted in order to face the extra muscle. It will be interesting to see if people are willing to pay quite a hefty amount of money for the car - considering that the Astra OPC / VXR is one of the most expensive hot hatches, we expect the Insignia to come with a beefy price tag. However, while in the hot hatch class it doesn’t quite matter what badge the car has, Insignia plays in a segment where buyers who want to spend more money on a car opt for premium brands like Audi, BMW and Mercedes.
