In order to celebrate the anniversary of Italy’s unification 150 years ago, Fiat has announced it is launching a new special-edition version of the Punto Evo, which is called the Punto 150°.

The model will go on sale this April and features a bespoke honeycomb grille, the two-tone unique lightweight alloy wheels, “Azzurro Italia” special metallic paintwork and the commemorative badges on the B-pillars, which are round and have the country's flat above a “150” logo.

The changes made are not limited to just the exterior, as the model will come with standard air conditioning and radio-CD audio system with MP3 compatibility. Also available are a set of stylish fog lams to complete the look at the front of the car.

The commemorative model is offered with a choice of three Euro 5-compliant engines. Two of them are petrol burners (1.2-liter 69 hp and 1.4-liter 77 hp) and one is a diesel, namely the 75 hp 1.3-liter Multijet II. All engines are fitted with a standard start/stop system. Fiat also has a 70 hp 1.4-liter engine on offer, which runs on either petrol or LPG.

As is the case with the standard Punto Evo, the car comes with seven airbags, ABS, EBD (Electronic Brakeforce Distribution) and ESP (Electronic Stability Program) systems, plus other useful features such as the Hill Holder system.

The base price in Italy is €9,900 ($14,000) for the 1.2-liter version of the Punto 150°.

Fiat has announced that it will celebrate Italy’s birthday by putting the “Italia 150” logo on all the cars it will build between April and the end of June for the Italian market.
