Nevada Allows Bikes to Run through the Red Light

Nevada Allows Bikes to Run through the Red Light 1 photo
Nevada Assembly Bill 117 deem lawful for motorcycle, moped or trimobile or a bicycle or electric bicycle riders to proceed through an intersection against a red traffic light.
Now, this does not mean that Nevada instated chaos as a rule, but the fact that more consideration is actually shown to road users. It appears that the sensors used for detecting vehicles approaching an intersection ar not always able to detect motorcycles and similar vehicles and change the traffic light color accordingly.

This can cause the aforementioned road users to be literally stuck at a permanent red light, and this can be very frustrating in intense heat, or during rain.

Under the new law, motorcycles and other specified vehicles can proceed through the intersection after waiting for a reasonable time and observing that the red light does not change. However, the road users benefiting from this law are to yield the right of way to pedestrians and other traffic, as instructed by the rest of the signals.

Good to see authorities acting smart on this matter, and I can hope bikers won't abuse this new law.
