Mercedes CLA Officially Unveiled [Photo Gallery]
This is the much anticipated CLA, a four-door coupe with a rakish roofline that we’ve been following very closely for over a year now. The model is making its debut at the Detroit Motor Show later today and will be introduced into the US lineup at a starting price of about $30,000 in September.
The brand new C-Class sedan will debut soon as well, but for the time being, the CLA is actually longer than a C-Class. It measures 182.3 inches (4,630mm) in length, 80.0 inches in width (2,032mm – Mercedes gave us the size with mirrors) and 56.6 inches (1,438mm) tall.
As we expected, offering A-Class engines in the US proved to be tricky, and Mercedes will only sell the 2-liter version with 208 hp (211 PS) and 258 lb-ft (350Nm) of torque. This is fitted to the CLA 250 and comes standard with a 7-speed Dual Clutch Transmission.
When it’s shown to the European public as well in March, we’ll know how many of the A-Class’s engines trickled down into the premium four-door.
autoevolution will be attending the 2013 North American International Auto Show in Detroit, so stay tuned for some real up close and personal shots of the vehicles, as well as for first-hand details of the motorized contraptions presented at the event.
