One of the most important new models Mercedes-Benz will bring to this year's Paris Motor Show is the E-Class All-Terrain, which is somewhat funny because it's nothing more than a regular E-Class station wagon with a higher ground clearance and some plastic claddings.
Perhaps the model everyone will be talking about at the Mercedes-Benz stand is going to be the mysterious electric crossover that is supposed to preview a whole new era for the Stuttgart company - and maybe even a new brand, as Daimler is reportedly thinking about selling the EVs under a different name.

However, the battery-powered car won't be the one people will be buying shortly after, but the E-Class All-Terrain. We've already declared ourselves fans of this type of vehicle, and with the recent unveiling of the Volvo V90 CrossCountry and the countless sightings of the jacked-up Mercedes, we've had plenty of chances to do it.

The new car's design won't probably surprise anybody, which is why Mercedes-Benz has released this video clip it calls a "teaser" even though it all but shows us the model in all its glory. We get to see some parts in more detail such as the front grille and lower part of the bumper (more rugged, as expected, but also sporty), the protective side skirts, the wheels and plastic-covered wheel arches, and the rear end which looks as manly as they come despite being painted red.

The video also gives us a glimpse at the DYNAMIC SELECT function which allows the user to select between a few pre-defined setups or configure one manually. Unlike on other models in the family, this new E-Class will have a special setting called "All Terrain" governing at least the transmission and suspension. We can't say exactly how it will affect these components, but it will most definitely be tuned for light off-road driving. Or at least make the driver think it is.

In the end, we're basically told that all this "c'etait un rendezvous" and that the new 2017 Mercedes-Benz E-Class All-Terrain will be waiting for us in Paris. Well, we already knew that, but it's always nice of it to get an invitation like that.
