The third Customer Racing sports car from Mercedes-Benz in the last few years will not be driven in any of the major motorsport competitions of the world, sadly.
On the upside, thousands of people will be able to experience driving it on legendary tracks like the Nurburgring Nordscheife.
What sorcery is this, some of you may ask. Well, it seems that the hilariously-long-named Mercedes-Benz AMG Vision Gran Turismo Racing Series has is ready to hit most Sony PlayStation consoles around the world – at least those sporting the Gran Turismo 6 racing game, naturally.
The Racing Series version of the gorgeous Vision Gran Turismo has been mildly modified compared to the original model, featuring both performance and exterior design upgrades.
The look is somewhat different thanks to a number of subtle red accents incorporated in strategic places around the body, while the speed and brakes-controlled rear wing has been replaced by a larger, fixed one, which will help the car achieve better (virtual) traction at higher speeds.
The engine seems to have gained either 6 hp or 14 hp, as the official Gran Turismo press release doesn't specify if the new car's 591 hp are Imperial or Metric, while the total weight of the car is now just 1300 kg (2866 pounds) instead of 1385 kg (3053 pounds).
Gran Turismo 6 players can obtain the car by participating in the new Seasonal Event, which will be available in the game for only a limited amount of time, so you better hurry and fire up your PlayStation 3.
