Have you ever noticed how the very best car videos come out at the very end of the year, getting you all excited about what's going to happen in the next one? Well this has to be the coolest video we've seen all year.
It's a case of "epic is and epic does" for McLaren, who took their P1 hypercar to its limit in an effort to lap the Nurburgring in under 7 minutes. Have they succeeded? Yes, and we wish the hairs on our arms could clap, because they are already standing up in ovation.
The P1 shattered all previous record with an average speed of 178 km/h (111 mph) on the 20.8 kilometer track. The reason we're not getting the official time is because McLaren wants to see what the LaFerrari puts down. But Bridge to Gantry has learned that the P1 hot lap is "6:47 on street tires and a 6:33 on slicks." The street tire lap is one second faster than the current lap leader, the Radical SR8LM.
