The aforementioned programme will be headed by none other than former A1 GP Team Malaysia driver Alex Yoong – who also did some starts in the GP2 Series – who will take care of business back in Asia. As far as the old continent is concerned, these duties will be fulfilled by Nino Judge, who also manages the F3 outfit Litespeed.
Yoong and Judge will therefore become responsible with finding new talented drivers to feed the Malaysian team in the future. As for the 2010 race drivers, Lotus is still to give us some official answers. The only certainty is Malaysian racer Fairuz Fauzy, who will take a reserve driver role within the outfit next year.
“These new senior appointments will be a great boost for Lotus F1 Racing. The team have achieved many important milestones and we are on track to be on the grid in Bahrain next year,” said the team’s principal Tony Fernandes, while also announcing Mia Sharizman Ismail as Lotus’ new head of operations for the Asian continent.
“The young driver development scheme will play a key role in finding and developing future Malaysian drivers and it is great that Litespeed can play such an important role in that process. There is a lot of raw motorsport talent in Malaysia and as the country's national F1 team, it is our responsibility to bring that to the fore,” added the Lotus F1 CEO Riad Asmat.
