Little did we know when we set out for Milan a couple of days ago, that Husqvarna was going to bring out two brand new concepts at the biggest event for bikers in the world. And yet, when we first laid our eyes on the 701 Supermoto, we knew something was up.
The 701 celebrates the brand’s return to the streets but two new concepts aiming at the same segment? That definitely was a surprise. And yet, that’s exactly what we found at their stand.
Both of them have a big cool factor and were created by industrial design company Kiska, to get as big of a reaction as possible. Let’s see what differs.
Power comes from a state-of-the-art 400cc water-cooled single that makes 43 hp which should be good for the bike’s weight of 135 kg (297 lbs).
Even though it’s a scrambler (or should we say especially?) the 401 Svartpilen looks extremely elegant, exuding class and style. Basically, we can tell you right now that if it will hit the streets in this guise, it will be turning a lot of heads.
The spiked wheels and its lightweight construction seem to point out to off-road capabilities and we’re guessing that if Husqvarna decides to put it in production we’re going to be witnessing the birth of a very successful model.
The 401 Concepts
Husqvarna decided to unveil two concepts part of the same philosophy at Milan. The 401 Vitpilen and Svartpilen were brought out and it’s easy to see the difference between them if you know Swedish. You don’t? Well, we’ll tell you that Vitpilen means ‘white arrow’ and Svartpilen means ‘Black Arrow’. Makes a lot more sense now, doesn’t it?Both of them have a big cool factor and were created by industrial design company Kiska, to get as big of a reaction as possible. Let’s see what differs.
The 401 Vitpilen
The white arrow is clearly a sort of flat tracker, with a somewhat retro feel to it, having the handlebars positioned extremely low and close to the tank. Just like the production ready 701 Supermoto, it seems like the Vitpilen uses a lot of components made of aluminum and magnesium, aiming at a light construction. That includes the cylinder head cover, the clutch and other elements including the triple clamps for the handlebars.Power comes from a state-of-the-art 400cc water-cooled single that makes 43 hp which should be good for the bike’s weight of 135 kg (297 lbs).
The 401 Svartpilen
The black arrow on the other hand is a scrambler type of bike and you can immediately tell judging by the Continental TKC80 tires that give it away instantly.Even though it’s a scrambler (or should we say especially?) the 401 Svartpilen looks extremely elegant, exuding class and style.
