Bentley may be on a hype right now, with the company having announced a record year in 2013 and preparing to introduce its SUV, but a car company is only as flourishing as its engineers and the Brits are ready to expand their team.
A recent official announcement shows Bentley wants to add 140 jobs at is headquarters in Crewe, UK. 90 of you engineers reading this will get to work for Bentley and this is just a part of the story. In addition, the automaker needs 51 new apprentices, the biggest intake in a decade.
We shall start with the engineers, which will “work on an expanding model range” - SUV skills anybody? You will get to choose between certain engineering areas, including Chassis, Powertrain, Electrical, Body and Trim, as well as Whole Vehicle.
As for your financial side, you should obviously ask Crewe about this. Still, we can tell you the extra jobs are part of a GBP800 million investment over three years.
Like many carmakers nowadays, Bentley is heading towards a hybrid future, so being good with the internal combustion-electric stuff may be an advantage. To put it in Bentley’s words, “90% of Bentley’s production will be available with a plug-in hybrid option by the end of the decade.”
As for the apprentices, 40 of the 51 to be hired will be included in a tuition scheme aimed at strengthening Bentley’s efforts for the 2016 introduction of their SUV. We already have plenty of... kind request for the remaining 11 people. For instance, if any of you get to work on the next-gen Continental GT, please see that the four-cylinder mode light on the dash of the past V8 prototype does make it into production, will you?
