Ford Motor Company has filed a trademark request for the “Model E” name with the United States Patent and Trademark Office earlier this month.
According to Ford Authority, the filing is categorized in the Automobiles section of Good and Services with serial number 86133442. Unfortunately, there’s no word on what Ford might be using the moniker, but the aforementioned source says the Model E could become a concept car.
Renaming the E-Series is out of the question since the filing is under Automobiles, but the “E” could very well stand for electric. Maybe one that could revolutionize the auto industry, just like the Model T did more than 100 years ago.
Interestingly enough, Tesla’s brand new affordable sedan, which is smaller than the Model S, is expected to be launched as the Model E, although the EV manufacturer has yet to confirm the name.
