It seems that neither four-wheel drive, not satellite navigation are for everyone. At least that’s what one British football player proved, getting his Porsche Panamera stuck in a muddy forrest by blindly following satnav instructions.
Andre Wisdom, Liverpool FC defender, was in a rush to get to a match, driving on the outskirts of Derby on Saturday - he is currently on loan at Derby County. His satnav pointed a route that took him far away from paved roads. He didn’t know the area very well, so he obeyed instructions precisely.
Despite noticing that his pre-facelift Panamera Turbo was getting deep into the woods, Wisdom kept on following the navigation instructions until he got the car stuck in deep mud.
As you can see in the adjacent images, the Panamera was invited to what one may easily call an offroading session. Despite mistreating his Porsche, Wisdom managed to get to his match on time, with the help of his club. The defender contributed to the team’s success, as they scored a 3-0. As for the car, this was reclaimed from the wilderness on Saturday night.
“Andre visited a local shop on the way to Saturday’s game against Sheffield Wednesday and, being new and unfamiliar to the area, he programmed the stadium’s postcode into his sat-nav." a Derby County club spokesman said. “The route provided took him down a less-than-traditional road, where conditions were also poor, and ultimately his car got stuck.”
We can’t help but remember there was one time when the navigation in a 911 Targa invited us to an offroading session, albeit a much lighter one. We were also pretty desperate to reach our destination, so we could see why the football player enter the route. From this point on though, we’re not quite sure about his methods...
