Fiat Qubo Starts Trekking

Fiat's small MPV Qubo will debut, one year after its release, a new version called Trekking. This version is aimed, as you might guess from its name for soft off road use, thanks to the introduction of the Traction+ system.

Traction+ works by improving tire grip, in conjunction with the revised suspension system. The suspensions were raised by 10 cm and the front end of the car got a chrome off road kit: lateral protections to prevent off-road damage to the body, as well as all weather Pirelli P2500 tires.

Engine-wise, no major modifications were made to the Qubo. The car is powered by a choice of only two engines, a 1.4 liter 8v petrol engine and a 1.3 16v Multijet diesel, both generating about 75 HP.

The 1.3l Mutijet eats up around 4.5l/100Km combined cycle (52.2 mpg), while emitting 119g of CO2 every km. The petrol 1.4l unit is not as eco-friendly, consuming 6.9l/100Km (34 mpg) and releasing 164g of CO2 per km into the atmosphere.

As for safety and infotainment, the Qubo Trekking will come with front and side airbags, manual climate control and, as an option, the Blue&Me system. Starting price for the Qubo is, according to autoblog.it, 16,700 euros, without state incentives.

The car is aimed at the young and active families segment of the market. The Qubo offers lots of room and practicality at an accessible price. It features a bulgy look with lots of round lines. This helps the car look somewhat less like a box and reduces drag resistance.

Unfortunately, no official photo of the Qubo Trekking has yet been released.
