At the beginning of July, we announced that the new EBR bike, the naked 1190SX beast was ready to storm the roads of the world, and now it’s time to tell you that the bike has got a confirmed price for Europe. The first price tag we know of comes from Italy, where the bike will be sold for around €14,000 ($18,750), thus slotting somewhere in the middle of the similar naked motorcycle segment, with the same market having the Aprilia Tuono listed with a €16,790 ($22,475) price, the Ducati Monster 1200 selling for €15,990 ($21,400), the KTM 1290 Super Duke R for €15,650 ($20,950) and the BMW S1000R going for €12,900 ($17,270).
The new bike Erik Buell Racing delivered this year is based on the platform of the racing track-focused 1190RX machine, and we’ve seen a lot of other manufacturers doing the same thing with their top-notch superbikes. The recipe is as simple as it is effective, with most of the bodywork tossed, a “dumbed” engine with a lower peak power and lower top torque point for better rideability in less extreme conditions, and new, attractive color schemes.
However, in the case of the 1190SX, the Rotax-derived and upgraded engine remained untouched (thanks user EE3350), so the customers have the entire 185 horsepower at their disposal, with the peak reached at 10,600 revs. At a lower 8,200 rpm, the 72-degree v-twin delivers just under 138Nm (101 lb-ft) of torque, so riders are in for quite a savage ride. Even the 6-speed gear remained the same, with unchanged ratios.
We know that EBR’s new European office in the Netherlands and the North American manufacturer is looking forward for establishing a strong presence in the Old Continent’s markets.
