I Want to Drive!... Even if my financial situation is a bit far from tying up with that of my colleague Bach, you probably already know I'm not actually poor either. And that's just to be modest. Yet, I don't like helicopters and I only use planes if I really have to. I'm a fan (age ... Continue reading >

BRABUS Tesla Roadster
German tuning company BRABUS has just announced that the first customized model of the newly-founded Zero Emissions division will be showcased at the Essen Motor Show 2009, which starts on November 29. Although the resulting car looks and sounds just like a freaking spaceship (without taking into account the sounds it produces which may simply scare the hell out of you the first time you hear it), the standard vehicle is actually the world's first electrically powered production sports car, namely the Tesla Roadster.

Before getting deeper into technical specifications, let us present probably the most innovative yet strange component: a high-power sound generator that can produce various sounds, including a racecar engine plus two futuristic modes which sound just like The Jetsons theme. BRABUS says the driver can select one of these sounds straight from the dashboard, the volume being 100 percent “dependent on the momentary power output of the electric motor”.

Obviously, BRABUS upgraded performance features too, with weight-optimized BRABUS monoblock S light-alloy wheels, 7Jx18 on the front and 8.5Jx19 on the rear.

Exterior styling is even more futuristic than anytime before, featuring high-quality “matte white” paintjob, carbon-fiber front lip and daytime running lights. In addition, BRABUS installed carbon-fiber air inlets plus BRABUS rear wing and BRABUS rear diffuser, both of them made of light, strong carbon fiber.

Interior styling has been customized with scuff plates and illuminated BRABUS logo plus BRABUS perforated lightweight leather. “The cockpit features white seams to reflect the exterior color. The vehicle floor is also upholstered with lightweight leather for added exclusivity,” BRABUS said in a press statement.

And because we're sure you'd like to hear how this spaceship sounds, check out the following audio file hosted by BRABUS.
